Miranda Miller was born in London in 1950, the youngest of four children. As a child she wanted to act and her love of the theatre has influenced her novels, which are visual and dramatic and contain a lot of dialogue.
“Miller’s intricate fictions are lit by the dark flicker of a strong and original imagination.”
— Hilary Mantel
Miranda Miller was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the Courtauld Institute from 2013-15.
She writes an occasional blog for The History Girls, and also writes on Substack.
Miranda’s ninth novel, When I Was, about a child growing up in London in the 1950s, will be published by Barbican Press on March 18, 2025.
